Zell (Mosel) chooses „Stadtwein 2025“

And the winner is… Weingut Karlheinz Weis!

It is really something special: “This wine is the wine of the town of Zell”. It is presented at official occasions, anniversaries and events in the town and stands for the special flair of our home.

As part of the “WeinKulturNacht”, visitors had the opportunity to taste the new vintage and choose their favorites for the “Stadtwein 2025”.

A total of eight winegrowers submitted wines from the large vineyard “Zeller Schwarze Katz”, vintage 2024, Riesling, semi-dry or feinherb. As this was too many for a direct tasting as part of the “WeinKulturNacht”, the town had the wines tasted and evaluated independently by the Chamber of Agriculture's testing committee in accordance with the rules of the testing chamber. The top four from this test were presented to the guests on the evening of the “WeinKulturNacht” on April 26 for the final selection.

The visitors showed great interest in the tasting and selected their favorites with a great deal of knowledge and commitment. And who has now won the competition and can call themselves “Stadtwein 2025”?

Last Sunday, May 4, 2025, the winners were announced at the wine lounge on the market square:

Winner and thus producer and supplier of the new “Stadtwein 2025” is wine no. 4 from Weingut Karlheinz Weis. Second place went to wine no. 3 from Weingut Stephan Fischer, third place went to wine no. 1 from Weingut F. J. Weis and fourth place with sample no. 2 went to Weingut Bremm - Keltenhof, Lothar & Marco Bremm.

Congratulations to the winners! And a big thank you to all the participating wineries on behalf of the town of Zell (Mosel): all the wines were of such a high standard that they could all have been considered for the “Stadtwein 2025”. This is shown by the evaluation of the almost 300 ratings and the close results. But of course there can only be one winner.
