Dear fellow residents
Summer is the time when many festivals take place. Most of the time, the focus is on wine. But when is a "leopard", a "tiger" or a "boxer" the center of attention?
Our partner company invites you to a meeting of a completely different kind in Kastellaun.
On Saturday, August 24, you can view a "Leopard 2" main battle tank, the "Tiger" combat helicopter, the "Panzerhaubitze 2000" howitzer and many other Bundeswehr weapons and the worldwide operations of the Information Technology Battalion 282 in the exhibition from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of an "Open Day". The service dog school demonstrates the performance of its trained dogs and many other interesting activities are on the program.
For example, the cook from the sponsoring company will be attempting to bake the world's largest nut corner in order to achieve entry into the Guinness Book of Records with a new world record.
In addition to other dishes, the Bundeswehr pea soup and, of course, a sip of "Zeller Schwarze Katz" - the town wine - will be available at the stand of the town of Zell (Mosel).
The soldiers of the company offer to pick up interested visitors to our town in a minibus in Zell and drive them back later.
Departure times: 09:30 am and 11:30 am
Return journey: 15:00 and 16:30
Meeting point: Market square / "Zeller-Schwarze-Katz" fountain
The comrades of the Bundeswehr ask you to register for the trip with the Zell town council. Please give them a short call on 06542 9696-0.
Visitors who wish to drive to Kastellaun in their own vehicle are asked to park at the Beller train station.
The soldiers of our sponsor company would be delighted if many people from Zell and guests from our town would decide to visit them on 24.08.2024.
Situation regarding the Zell hospital
There is currently a lot of talk about the situation of the Zell hospital - the Mittelmosel-Klinik.
The town of Zell, the municipality of Zell and the district of Cochem-Zell are involved in several discussions and campaigns. In the interests of the matter, these are not being conducted in public. It remains to be seen when and what information and decisions will be provided by the hospital and healthcare providers in the state.
Resolution:
First of all, I would like to refer you to the joint resolution of our town council and the association council, which you can read on our website as well as on the website of the Zell association council (www.zell-mosel.de).
The local council and town council have jointly addressed this resolution to the bodies responsible for healthcare policy and provision. They are doing what they can to maintain the Mittelmosel Clinic and thus an extremely important pillar of acute healthcare provision for our population in the Zell region.
Petition:
In addition, a joint petition initiated by hospital chaplain Mr. Gregor Doege for the preservation of the Mittelmosel-Klinik is running on the Internet. This petition is supported by all parliamentary groups of the association council and the town council as well as the Protestant and Catholic parishes.
The petition has now collected over 4,000 signatures. Call up the petition and join it. The direct link is as follows:

Demonstration:
In addition to signing the petition, our citizens can also express their will and their demand for the continued existence of the Mittelmosel-Klinik, for the preservation of health care and thus for an infrastructure that will sustain the future by taking part in the planned demonstration.
This is planned to take place on the Barl. Look out for the relevant publications in the press and other public announcements.
Let us hope that our Mittelmosel-Klinik can continue to exist as it is and that the health care of our population is secured. If our hospital is closed, the decision-makers in the state will not only bleed our patients but our entire region to death. Without a hospital, we will not only lose healthcare, but also our economic future.
Let us stand up together and fight to preserve our Mittelmosel-Klinik.
With this in mind, I would like to greet our fellow residents and hope that many of them will join forces with local politicians to fight for the hospital's preservation.
Your
Mayor of the town
Hans-Peter Döpgen
