New information from the LBM

on the work on the Zell Moselle bridge (B53)

The following information on the current status of the construction work on the Zell motorway bridge has been provided by the Landesbetrieb Mobilität (LBM) Cochem-Koblenz:

B 53 - Construction work on the Moselle bridge in Zell enters the penultimate round

On February 4, 2025, the construction work in the area of the Moselle bridge in Zell on the B 53 will enter the penultimate construction phase.

To this end, the traffic routing will be changed again from February 3 to 4, 2025. Traffic will again be diverted past the works in one lane.

The work in this construction phase will now take place directly at the Zell traffic circle. Due to the high volume of traffic at the traffic circle, particular caution is required here.

This may also cause the traffic light gate system to switch to red more frequently, as the traffic circle must be kept clear.

The traffic routing will be monitored by the LBM after the changeover and the traffic flow will be evaluated so that improvements can be made to the traffic routing at short notice if necessary.

Up-to-date information, in particular on traffic routing, can always be found in the mobility atlas at verkehr.rlp.de.

The work in this construction phase will start with the milling out of the asphalt layers along the road crossing structure. Following this, the expansion joint construction will be removed from the structure using ultra-high-pressure water jets.

The work is still on schedule.

In the final construction phase, the bridge will then be fully closed for a weekend. During this full closure, the entire asphalt surface on the structure will be renewed. During this construction phase, heavy goods vehicles will be widely diverted. More detailed information on this full closure will be provided in a separate press release before the work begins.

Weather permitting, the construction work is expected to be completed as planned in April 2025.

In this respect, the LBM Cochem-Koblenz asks all road users to continue to show understanding for the restrictions in traffic flow.
