Dear fellow citizens,
Anonymously shaping our town
This is what people who write to me, the city and the city council without mentioning their names seem to feel called to do.
It is common practice that anonymous letters, as long as they do not contain criminal content, go straight to the wastepaper basket. I would like to deal with the petitioner(s) and explain why construction measures in the area of the Moselle forecourt are being carried out as decided by the city council. How is that supposed to be possible if neither sender nor alternatives are pointed out.
If you don't have the courage to stand by your opinion, I would ask you to keep it to yourself. Therefore, I point out that further anonymous letters will be immediately deposited in the wastepaper basket.
Local heating in Barl
On 18 July, the district heating company and the town of Zell (Mosel) invited people to an information evening on the "Nahwärme Barl" project.
I was pleased that so many fellow citizens from Barl came. After the project had already been cancelled, we took the initiative again together with the district and, due to new external circumstances (oil price / war in the Ukraine) and new funding possibilities, we initiated a new attempt to realise it.
Take the opportunity to connect your house to a future-proof and environmentally friendly energy supply.
800th Anniversary - Big Events !
The date of our 800th anniversary celebration is approaching with giant steps. From 1 to 3 September we want to celebrate the "Jubilee for all". We will begin on Friday, 1 September at 7 p.m. in the town hall with the ceremony.
In addition to invited guests, the ceremony is open to all citizens. The maximum number of visitors allowed for this evening is 400. In order to have an overview of the expected visitors, we will hand out admission tickets. Admission is free of charge. You can pick up the admission tickets at the Zeller Land Touristik GmbH or at the city administration. Maximum quantity per collection is 2 tickets.
The next day, we invite all citizens to a "Great Concert Evening" in the Schwarze Katz Hall in Zell. From 7.00 p.m. onwards, the Orchestra Association Zell will play in the preliminary programme and the MGV Lyra Kaimt and the MGV Ediger will sing.
We were able to engage the soprano Agnes Selma Weiland for an unforgettable song evening. Ms Weiland sings on the great stages of the world. You can look forward to a programme full of great melodies and countless goosebumps. Let yourself be whisked away to one of the world's greatest opera houses: your imagination.
We would also like to offer our fellow citizens this cultural-musical highlight free of charge. A maximum of 400 guests will have the chance to enjoy this event with an admission ticket, which can also be picked up at the Zeller-Land Touristik GmbH or at the city administration for a maximum of 2 persons each.
Admission tickets for both events are available while stocks last. There will be no seat reservation.
On Saturday and Sunday there will be a large stage on the market square for music, a medieval spectacle and for the play "Stadtrechteverleihung". But the "Medieval Spectacle" will also take place throughout the Moselstrasse on both days. Let yourself be surprised. For children, the market operators offer many opportunities to immerse themselves in past centuries.
More about this in the next "...from the town hall".
New benches for the land
From thinning wood in the Barl forest we were able to have benches made for the devotional place in the Barl forest cemetery. There was still some log wood left over. We also had this processed and made into benches. Two benches have now been installed in Merl - Spay under the pergola. The benches that were there before had become unusable due to their age. We wish the citizens of Merl pleasant hours on the rustic benches.
Kaimt will also receive a new rustic bench. At the time of this article's publication, a new large bench - also handmade - will invite people to spend time there and to talk to each other.
I wish everyone a good time with nice companions, pleasant conversation and relaxation on the new seating.
Yours
Town Mayor Hans-Peter Döpgen
