Dear fellow residents,
MoselPark Zell
The conversion of the Mosel forecourt into MoselPark Zell is divided into several separate construction phases.
As you have seen, the construction phase for the children's playground in the direction of Merl is largely complete. The tender has been completed and the construction company has cleared the site.
Trees and hedges are still being planted in the playground area. The playground itself is still being professionally inspected. If this inspection does not reveal any defects, we will be happy to inaugurate the new, attractive playground and officially hand it over to our children for use in the near future. We will publish more details on this in due course.
As everyone knows, construction prices have risen massively due to the coronavirus pandemic. This has also had an impact on the cost calculation for MoselPark Zell. As the federal and state governments are contributing a large amount to the eligible costs, an updated coordination of the construction project and its costs is currently underway with the approval authority (ADD Trier).
The next construction phase can only be put out to tender and awarded once they have given the go-ahead. It is not the case, as it may seem, that construction has been halted. There are still extensive coordination discussions to be held with the ADD. As soon as this department has given its approval, the conversion of the Mosel forecourt into the new MoselPark Zell will continue.
According to the current construction plan, the area between the pedestrian bridge and the new VG building will then be tackled.
Bridge construction site
Contrary to all fears, the flow of traffic in the area of the bridge construction site is apparently running smoothly. This is all the more pleasing as the first construction site installation had led to considerable traffic jams. This must also be praised.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the planners. Otherwise, the work is progressing quickly and, if winter does not force a halt to construction, we all hope that the planned completion date of April can be met.
Who lives where?
Perhaps you've been in the same situation before: You were looking for a person, had the address, but couldn't find the house in the street.
This happens more often than some people think. The letter carrier or postwoman or parcel delivery person either knows the building or drops off the mail or parcel in a neighboring building nearby.
However, this is certainly not desirable when delivering medication. Our pharmacies offer patients the option of having medication that is not in stock delivered by a contracted supplier. The supplier knows the address from the prescription, but the house number is missing. And if delivery is necessary later in the evening due to urgency, both the patient and the delivery person have a problem. The patient waits in vain for the promised delivery.
The delivery companies, who want to deliver the ordered medicines quickly and safely, therefore ask us to make our residents aware that the house number should be clearly visible on the house. In the dark, it is also helpful if the house number itself is illuminated. Thank you very much, also on behalf of the medicine deliverers.
Cycle Path Barl – B53
As part of the renewal of the road surface of Barlstraße-Nord, it was also examined whether an accompanying cycle path could be installed. Unfortunately, this was not possible due to various technical difficulties with the route. The town council therefore decided to create the connection between Barl and the valley on the old path through the forest.
After the town council awarded the contract for the construction of a new cycle path from Barl to the B 53, the route has now been extended. It starts at the forest cemetery and leads along the old, unpaved forest path for 800 m to the Marienburgsattel. From here, cyclists can ride in the direction of the Moselle and Pünderich, to Marienburg Castle or on to Barlstraße-Nord and the B 53 in the direction of Alf / Bullay.
We will open the route as soon as it has been approved. However, it will only be open to cyclists. The road was not built in such a way that vehicles can also use it. We therefore ask for your understanding if vehicles are prohibited and prevented from using the route by means of signs and barriers. Barlstraße-Nord is available for vehicles.
After approval, the new connection can be used by our cycling enthusiasts. However, please note that the surface is not yet so grippy after the new construction and can be very slippery due to the shady location in the forest, moisture and the risk of frost. There is also a risk of slipping when leaves fall. The path is not continuously checked and maintained for road safety like a normal road. Cyclists use the path at their own risk and in the condition it is in.
Nevertheless, I wish all cyclists lots of fun and an accident-free ride at all times, especially on the new connection from Barl to the valley (and also in the uphill direction).
